Real games. Structured coaching. A safe first step into competitive basketball.
Find Classes Near MeIs Your Child Ready To Move From Drills To Real Games?
Many 9 to 12 year olds reach a point where they are bored with training but are not quite ready for the cutthroat environment of local club leagues. It is a huge jump to go from a backyard hoop to a full-court 5 versus 5 game with referees and complex rules.
Real Games, Without The Pressure
Our Junior Basketball Competition is the safety net for developing players. We provide a structured, game-based setting where kids can learn the flow of a real match without the fear of being yelled at or benched. It is about building game IQ and the confidence to play under pressure.
No tryouts, no rejections. We do not cut players. We find a team for every child and make sure they get equal court time to actually practise what they have learned.
Learn the invisible skills. From floor spacing and defensive positions to in-game communication, we teach the strategies that traditional drills often miss.
A positive introduction to winning and losing. We track points and present MVP awards, but our focus stays on sportsmanship and resilience, competing hard while staying a role model on the court.
Simple to join, easy on your week
Your child joins a team for the term and plays other Little Boomers teams each week, same time, same teammates.

Loved By Parents and Players Alike
"The program is fantastic. My son absolutely loves the weekly team-vs-team competition, it keeps him excited and motivated every week. They also have a great rewards system, which really sets them apart from other basketball programs. It encourages the kids to stay engaged and keep improving. I highly recommend giving it a try. Your kids will have fun while learning the fundamentals in a supportive and positive environment."
What Your Child Learns Through Real Competition
There are no formal drills here, the learning happens inside the game itself.

Calling for the ball, talking on defence, and directing teammates in the flow of a real match.
Sportsmanship
Learning to compete hard while staying a role model, win or lose.
Team Identity
Staying with the same team all season builds real chemistry, not just a rotating group of strangers.

Junior Basketball Competition FAQs
My child has never played in a real competition before, is this okay?
Yes. This is exactly what the program is for. We are the stepping stone. Our coaches act as mentors, explaining the rules and positions as the game happens so no child feels lost or overwhelmed.
How does this program prepare my child for high school?
Real games teach kids how to handle pressure, communicate under fire and be part of a team with real stakes, exactly the kind of social and emotional readiness that makes the jump to high school easier.
Is this a Reps or Club team?
No. This is not a Reps or Club team. There is no tryout process, so it is a structured, local competition built for developing players who want real game experience without the pressure of a representative pathway.
Do the kids stay in the same teams each week?
Yes. Your child stays with the same team for the whole season, playing against other Little Boomers teams each week, so they build real chemistry and friendships with their teammates.
How does this differ from the Mighty Boomers training?
Mighty Boomers combines skill development with game play. Our Junior Basketball Competition is purely game focused, no formal drills, just real matches each week, so it suits kids who already have the fundamentals and want to play.
What are the benefits of enrolling my child in kids basketball classes?
Beyond the fun of real competition, your child builds game IQ, communication skills and resilience, learning how to win and lose gracefully in a supportive environment.
My child has never played sports before, is that okay?
Because this program is purely game based with no formal skill instruction, most families join us after some time in Mighty Boomers or another Little Boomers program. If your child is brand new to basketball, our Mighty Boomers program is the better starting point before moving into competition.
How long does each session go for?
Each session runs for a full 60 minutes of real game time.
Can we do a trial class first?
Our sessions are popular and run close to full most of the time, so trial spots are limited and offered when availability allows. Get in touch and our team will let you know what is available near you.
How do I register my child?
Head to our Find Classes Near Me tool, choose your closest location and preferred time, and complete your child's booking online. You will also find pricing for your local competition there.
Can I sign up if the term has already started?
Yes. You can join after the term has begun, and your fees will be prorated to reflect the weeks remaining.
What happens if my child misses a session?
We do offer make-up sessions for missed games, but they are subject to availability. Get in touch with your local team and we will do our best to find you a spot.
